Timely’s Membership Point of Sale (POS) system gives you a fast and convenient way to enroll new members directly from your dashboard. It is designed for onsite membership plan sales at your venue, front desk or events, allowing staff to process memberships without requiring customers to enroll online. 1. Benefits of Using the Membership Point of Sale (POS)
Selling memberships onsite offers convenience for your team and a smooth experience for your customers:
- Fast Front Desk Workflow: Staff can enroll members quickly during walk-ins, events or peak times.
- Accept Multiple Payment Options: Membership POS supports card readers, manual credit card entries, cash and check payments for in-person transactions.
- Accurate and Centralized Records: Every membership sale is stored in your Timely account so you can easily track members and review their activity.
2. How to Sell Membership Plans Using the POS
2.1 Access the Membership POS
To begin selling memberships in person:
- Log in to your Timely dashboard.
- In the left-side menu, select Membership.
- Click Point of Sales.
You will see the Membership Sales Dashboard listing all active membership plans.
2.2 Select a Membership Plan
Choose the membership plan you want to sell. Each plan displays information such as the membership name, price, and number of active members.
Click the plan to begin the sale.
2.3 Enter Customer Details
The POS requires customer information before checkout.
- Enter the customer’s Email.
- If the email matches an existing contact, the contact details will autofill
- If no match is found, use the option to create a new contact.
- Enter the required contact details and click Save.
Review the Summary panel on the right, then click Proceed to Checkout.
2.4 Select the Payment Method
Membership POS allows several onsite payment methods, including credit card, cash and check payments.
Credit Card Payments
For credit card payments, you have two options:
- You can manually input the credit card information and process the payment through Timely Pay. In this case, you must first set up your Timely Pay account in your calendar settings. When manually adding the card information, you will also need to complete the billing details, as this information is required to process the payment.
- Alternatively, you can use a physical card terminal. In this case, first you’ll need to connect a Stripe or Square account in your calendar settings and then sync your terminal reader.
Cash and Check Payments
For cash and check payments, you can enter any relevant notes, such as payor or check number.
2.5 Complete the Purchase
To finalize the sale:
- Confirm the customer and billing details.
- Select Complete purchase.
- The membership will activate immediately.
- A confirmation email will be sent to the member based on your template settings.
